Titanic Whiskey - Blood, Sweat, and Years
When Belfast bus driver Peter Lavery won the lottery in 1996, he wanted to ensure that the money would benefit the city that he loved, so he set about investing in regeneration and restoration projects in the area. One beneficiary was Thompson Graving Dock – a dry dock built in 1911 to build, launch, and service the ships of the White Star Line, Titanic and Olympic. The old pumphouse, once home to powerful Gwynne pumps used to remove millions of gallons of water from the dock, was lovingly restored and has been transformed into a copper-pot distillery producing a premium Irish Whiskey named, appropriately, Titanic. It has taken blood, sweat, and years, but whiskey production has finally returned to Belfast for the first time since Prohibition, and Thompson Dock has become a thriving tourist attraction in the heart of the city.
Steeped in maritime heritage, Titanic blends the light, sweet vanilla note of Irish grain whiskies, with the rich, deep spice of triple-distilled malts, and a hint of peat smoke for a long, lingering finish.
